SEDAR 80 Caribbean Queen Triggerfish

Project Description

SEDAR 80 was an Operational Assessment and addressed the stocks of Caribbean Queen Triggerfish.  Three Topical Working Groups (TWG) were convened to discuss 1) Life History, 2) Indices of Abundance, and 3) Effects of Fishery Regulations and the Economy on catchability, retention, and fishing behavior/selectivity.  The TWGs met via webinar between February 2021 and May 2022.     The Puerto Rico assessment was reviewed by the Caribbean Fishery Management Council’s SSC in Summer 2022 . The SSC reviewed the assessments for the USVI in Fall 2022 and determined additional work would be required to produce assessments useful for management. The SEFSC  will continue to work with the SSC to produce the assessments outside of the SEDAR Process. For more information, please contact the SEDAR Coordinator for this project, Julie A.
